The building of the Domaine
All the stones used for the building of the houses were found on the site. They were on the ground or were removed from the soil during the excavation work. In the past, these stones had been used to build the famous Bories of the shepherds of Périgord, you can still see some examples of them in the Domaine.
A  small old stone house has been kept and is now home for Eliott and Cachou, the donkey and the poney from the Domaine.

Most of the trees on the site were kept and only species typical of the region are  used when planting new trees so that the local biodiversity can be protected.

A role in the local economy
All the work undertaken on the site has been by local companies. The building of the Domaine has helped to create new  jobs in the area. The Domaine des Bories is shown as an example to local people who are interested in  bioclimatic construction.

Our close relationship with the local community continues with the opening of the Domaine to the public.
Every morning the baker from Sorges delivers the bread ordered the day before. Every week a  local farmer comes to sell fruits and vegetables from his garden .
Picnic baskets with local produce are on offer for sale.
Each week the Hipocamp horse riding school comes to pick up a group of riders (upon registration and in the high season).
Other partnerships are still being considered : guided tours of the historic sites  of the area, home massage, cooking lessons. etc..
